Batwoman: Elegy

on Mon, 11/28/2011 - 13:16

Written by Olivia S.

Batwoman: Elegy is a story that takes place not long after the one-year absence of three incredibly iconic heroes: Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman. It follows Kate Kane and her efforts to crush the cult that nearly ruined her and everything she knew. Batwoman is on the rise once again, after barely escaping her scrape with death, her supposed fall orchestrated by the cult of the “Religion of Crime.”

With outstanding art and stylized, creative panelling, Batwoman: Elegy is definitely worth the read.

Ao no Exorcist: A Review

Ao no Exorcist Review
(As well as an introduction to Anime and Manga for the less informed!
)

Written by Olivia S.

What better way to open up my blog than to review the hottest (and most widely debated) anime series' of the year featuring Satan's charismatic twin children? It might sound crazy, but give this a read and decide for yourself.

In a time where anime is becoming more commonplace and less fringe, for the first time, Japan has been producing anime and manga with the idea of globalization in mind.

Smiley Spot: Aquaman

on Wed, 11/23/2011 - 08:33

This week, while preparing my painting I chose to make the background color orange. It is not a color that is often used, but I was glad I made the change. When used in moderation orange creates dynamic imagery and contrasts the darker tones of reality quite well. I bring this up because in the comic book world, Orange is entirely owned by Aquaman, and his new series by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis are owning right now.

The book is clearly on its own level of ambition, having the first two issues thus far force Aquaman to confront not super villains, but normal people who just don’t

The New 52 Ongoing

on Tue, 11/22/2011 - 11:41

Well, I survived pneumonia and I’m back with a couple more reviews. Hold on to your Wolverine sideburns ‘cause here we go!

Green Lantern #2

So I have to admit that I was a little suspicious of Geoff Johns not making any real changes to his Green Lantern books while at the same time re-starting just about everything else in the DCU. However, now that we are a few issues in, I get what’s happening. Some titles haven’t really changed, i.e. Green Lantern and most of the others seem to be following their own timelines.

Under the Skin Part 4

on Mon, 11/21/2011 - 18:48

Dear Vince,
Nov 21/2011

Life just keeps getting worse and worse. I thought nearly killing my best friend would be the cherry on top of my new horrendous life, but Kyle, Sasha and I are stuck in a run-down motel 2 miles from the farm house. Well, what is left of the place... But how about I start at the beginning and go from there.

Well, it all started when Kyle woke up angry… Except, angry doesn’t even cover it! He was full-on pissed. My room got trashed as he threw about the lamps, the bedside tables and, all the drawers from the dresser at me.

Phew. Okay. Finally: the last batch of DC's New 52 titles, read and reviewed for your convenience. To recap, out of the previous 39 titles, I've decided to stick with about 17 of them. Now, once we take a look at these final titles, we can see what the overall tally will be, and whether we can consider DC's initiative to be a success or failure.

Week 4

All-Star WesternLike titles such as Men of War or I, Vampire, All-Star Western offers a refreshing change of pace from your typical DC

Desert Bus for Hope!

Desert Bus for Hope, GeekCrafts, and Fangirling, Oh My!

Well, we're approaching that time of year again.

The time of year when we reflect on the important things in life, like nerdy friends, time off from work or school, and all those awesome games and books we want. The time of year when we really enter into the spirit of giving, and of forcing minor internet celebrities to dance to our every whim in order to raise money for children's hospitals.

That's right, it's time for Desert Bus.
Desert Bus for Hope is an annual gaming marathon run by the internet comedy group LoadingReadyRun, and it

Smiley Spot: The Dark Knight Rises

on Wed, 11/16/2011 - 03:23

The Dark Knight Rises

Concluding our look into the 2012 superhero movies comes the last, and in many ways most anticipated movie of them all. It is the finally of the Christopher Nolan Batman franchise, that has not only changed the way Batman is regarded, but forced the quality of superhero movie's into a new relm of critical acclaim. The excpectations of The Dark Knight were fully realized, becoming the highest grossing and best reviewed comic book inspired movie.

Now, with the finale, expectations could not be higher.
