Smiley Spot: 2012 Wish List
For this entry, I wanted to create a 2012 wish list. The following are three comic book ideas, that while having no chance of actually happening would be the dream projects for comic books to have this year. Sound off if you would be interested in these ideas and take this blog as an opportunity to think big:

A New Wednesday Comics From DC:
Three summers ago, DC comics put out a project that mirrored the original newspaper comic strips of the 1930’s, and few projects have been as enjoyable since. The format is an incredibly fun way to tell comic book stories, where the art is larger than life on newsprint, and the creative teams can go wild.
Though it might not be the most profitable project for DC right now, I would love to see a new version of Wednesday Comics. With their new influx of talent like Jeff Lemire, Marco Rudy, travel Forman and Frazier Irving to name a few, the potential for fabulous and fun comic art would challenge the medium as a whole and shake up the modern conceptions of what comic art is.

Harry Potter Prequel Comics:
Though the idea is so economic it makes no sense not to do it, comics have a great potential to flesh out the wizarding universe from J.K Rowling’s narrative epic. No franchise has attracted more universal phrase world wide, and anything connected to its legacy would be stupid not to do. Imagine a comic that shows the Hogwarts founders, showing the origins of the Horcruxes, the Sorting Hat and all manner of things that made the Harry Potter books so magical. The frustration is that, and with respects to the creators involved, it could devolve into a rather far ranging and convoluted story as the expanded star wars universe has become in comics. Rowling should meet Geoff Johns, give him an outline and let the story be told with the weight of the author.
ABC’s Lost Comic Book:
For the past two years, nothing has been able to fill the void Lost left in me. Lost as a TV show was a phenomenon and merged drama to science fantasy like no other story has, and since its conclusion there are so many story potentials that a comic book could explore.
My number one fantasy for this year would be a Lost comic book that reflects on the series at large and narrates from different character perspectives. Having a Sayid episode that shows what a great brother he was to all of the survivors. A Sawyer issue, detailing all of his cons and showing what he was thinking when he performed them. Just to relive this narrative would be a thrill and really shake up the comic book industry.
To all, have a fabulous 2012, dream big, buy many Uysfaber comics, and keep on Rockin’
