UysFaber Presents

HardWear is a sci-fi-noir cyberpunk series detailing the lives (and deaths) of the residents of Winn City. Set in a dark, nano-infused future where the corporations rule the cities and street-razors run amok in the night, the comic focuses on three very different characters as they struggle to survive from day to day.

Salt Road is a mini-comic part of the larger Totem Sacred Series world. Salt Road follows a young private detective, Shani, as she hunts the ghosts and monsters who slip through the night, relying only on her wits and courage to survive.

Lessons Learned is based on real events, with only the names changed to protect the innocent and foolish.

UysFaber is produced by a number of Toronto-based creators, but the comics are to be enjoyed by any and all. Check out the Upcoming page for character designs, interior art, and covers for projects soon to be released!

Finally, the Uys in UysFaber is pronounced "Ace". It's an Afrikaner family name. And a long story. With Vikings... if you believe the storyteller!

My Very First Comic Con

on Sat, 04/21/2012 - 17:17

I’d never been to any sort of fan convention, prior to the Wizard World Toronto show on April 14th and 15th in the Metro Convention Centre. I thought I knew what I was getting myself into—but anyone who’s been to a con can tell you that you never really know what you’re getting into.

As UysFaber, we had our own table in Artist’s Alley this year. Matt Salonen (who draws “Salt Road” in the Totem Sacred universe) and John “DK” Kartigan (who is the title editor of our HardWear line) were there with me throughout the con, doing sketches and telling people about our comics.

A Game of Thrones: The Board Game

Learning to play the Game of Thrones board game

In which I do not explain how to play the game, because that would be a different and considerably longer blog.

A few weeks ago, we here at UysFaber decided to try playing the 2ndedition of the Game of Thrones board game (read: the boss decided we were going to play, and the rest of us decided it was a fine alternative to real work).

The original plan was to learn the game as we went along, consulting the rulebook as necessary.
